Safeguarding statement
This community exists because the job is hard and the brain can make it harder. Keeping members safe comes before everything else we do.
Last updated: October 2026If you need help right now
The Alliance is a peer community, not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. If you’re struggling and need to talk to someone now, Samaritans are free, 24/7, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
Our commitment
Every member has the right to take part in this community free from harm, harassment, bullying and exploitation. We take safeguarding seriously for adults at risk, and we expect every member to share that responsibility.
How we keep the forum safe
- Membership is verified so the community stays genuinely peer-only.
- The forum is actively moderated by trained volunteers who are themselves serving or former emergency services personnel.
- Every post can be reported to moderators, and reports are reviewed promptly.
- Members who put others at risk are removed.
What we do if we’re worried about you
If something you share, in the forum, by email, or at an event, makes us seriously concerned for your safety or someone else’s, a member of the team will reach out to you directly and signpost appropriate support. In the rare case that we believe there is a risk of serious harm, we may pass information to emergency or statutory services. We will tell you if we do this unless doing so would increase the risk.
Confidentiality and your employer
We never report your membership, your posts or your conversations with us to your employer. Safeguarding concerns are handled by the safeguarding lead, not shared with the wider volunteer team.
Raising a concern
If you’re worried about the safety or wellbeing of a member, or about the conduct of anyone involved with the Alliance, contact our safeguarding lead at hello@adhdalliance.co.uk with “Safeguarding” in the subject line.
