How to use the ADHD Alliance forum
The forum is where most of our day-to-day support happens. It’s a private, moderated space for people in the emergency services to ask questions, share what’s worked and hear from others who do the same job. Here’s how it works, so you know what to expect before you sign up.
Who it’s for
The forum is open to emergency services personnel, serving or former. It’s closed on purpose. Members talk about medication, disclosure and disciplinary matters, and that only works when people know who is reading.
If you’re a family member or supporter, the public pages of this site are written with you in mind, and so is our Parents and Carers content. You can also get in touch through the contact page.
How joining works
It takes a couple of minutes and it’s free. You don’t need a diagnosis.
- Enter your work email. Use a current email from your service. It’s how we confirm you’re part of the community.
- Verify the link. We send a one-time link to that address. Click it to activate your account.
- Choose a display name. Pick any username. Many members stay anonymous, and your real name is never shown unless you choose to show it.
- Say hello. Introduce yourself in the welcome thread and look through the categories that fit your situation.
We only use your email to verify you. Other members never see it.
Where to start
Discussions are sorted into categories, so you can go straight to what matters to you:
- General: open discussion on anything ADHD and frontline life. A good place to say hello.
- ADHD Alliance Updates: news, meeting dates and announcements from the team.
- Webinars: joining links, recordings and follow-up questions for each session.
- Guides: titration, Access to Work, reasonable adjustments and disclosure.
- Parents and Carers: support for families, and for people supporting a colleague or loved one.
- Upcoming Events: peer meets, conferences and awareness dates.
There’s also a pinned Start here post that explains the layout and points you to the guides.
Getting the most from it
- Read before you post. Many questions have been asked and answered, and Guides is a good first stop.
- Share only what you’re comfortable sharing. You decide what you disclose and to whom.
- Come back to Webinars after a session, because that’s where recordings and follow-up questions live.
- If something isn’t right, tell the moderators through the contact page.
